The Basic Details Panel

Use this section to enter a few basic details about a product. Required information is marked with a red *.
Editing Products: Basic Details Panel
Product Name
Enter the name of your product.

We recommend that you include several relevant keywords and variations to help with search engine ranking and Google Shopping uploads. Keywords are words and phrases that you think your customers may search for on search engines such as Google.

Example:
If this product is a pair of shoes, try not to use a simple generic term for your Product Name such as "Shoes". Instead, add more descriptive, relevant keywords and variations. For example, "Adidas Men's Stylish Suede Shoes/Trainers/Sneakers - Blue".

Product Code
Enter a Product Code here, if you choose to use them.

This can be used to help you manage your stock and orders. The Product Code may display on your store when viewing the details of a product (dependent on your selected design).

If you do not enter a Unique Product Identifier for a product in the Advanced Details panel, we will automatically use the Product Code as the MPN.

Stock Qty
If you want to keep a track of your stock, enter the current stock level of this product.

This will automatically be updated when a customer purchases this product. You can use the Manage > Stock section of the control panel to quickly view and edit all of your stock levels. In the Settings > Stock Settings section, you can also set how your store behaves when a product's stock level reaches zero. There are 3 options - "When a product is out of stock, I want the store to:"
  • Show the Product as Normal - Use this option to ignore your current stock levels and always display all of your products on your webstore.
  • Remove the Product from the Store - Use this option to remove products from your webstore and hide them from your customers the moment they become out of stock.
  • Keep the Product on the Store but Disable Checkout - Use this option if you would like out-of-stock products to remain displayed on your webstore but prevent customers from being able to add it to their basket. If a customer tries to add an out-of-stock product to the basket, a message will pop up informing them that it is out-of-stock. They will also be able to request notification when the product is back in stock.
Category
Select a Category for the product by clicking on the Change Category button. A pop-up window will appear that allows you to select a category. Simply select a category and click on the Confirm Category button.

This section can also be used to create, rename, reorder and delete categories.

Add Parent Category

This creates a new Parent Category at the bottom of the category tree.

Add Child Category

This creates a new Sub-Category within the selected category. Once you have created a new Sub-Category, in order to see it, you may need to click the + symbol to expand the view of the Parent Category.

Delete Category

This button deletes the selected category. If the deleted category contains Sub-Categories, they will also be deleted. Any products within a category which is deleted will become "Orphaned" and are accessible via the Manage > Products section.

Move Category Up

This moves the selected Parent Category or Sub-Category up one position in the category tree. It will not affect the current level of the category, i.e. a Sub-Category cannot become a Parent Category by using this button, and vice versa.

Move Category Down

This moves the selected Parent Category or Sub-Category down one position in the category tree. It will not affect the current level of the category, i.e. a Sub-Category cannot become a Parent Category by using this button, and vice versa.

Edit Category Name

This allows you to rename the selected category. You can also do this by clicking on an already selected category. Simply type in the new category name and press Enter.

How to Turn a Parent Category into a Sub-Category
To change a Parent Category into a Sub-Category, simply click on it and hold down the mouse button, then drag it onto an existing category and release the mouse button. It will then become a Sub-Category of the category it was "dropped" on.

How to Turn a Sub-Category into a Parent Category
To change a Sub-Category into a Parent Category, simply click on it and hold down the mouse button, then drag it onto the "Top (root)" text and release the mouse button. It will then become a Parent Category.

You can create sub-categories by selecting an existing category and clicking on the Add Child Category button. If a category contains sub-categories, you will see a plus (+) icon to the left of the category name - simply click on the plus icon to expand the category and view all of its sub-categories.

How to Add a Product to Multiple Categories
Every product on your store can be linked to multiple categories at the same time. While editing a product, you can set it's Primary Category in the Basic Details panel. Any number of Secondary Categories can be set via the Advanced Details panel - just click on the "Add Product to Additional Category" button.

While in the Manage > Products section, if you choose to Filter your results by Category, the Primary Category must be used to find any product that has been attached to multiple categories in this way.
