Below is a quick check list of things you might want to think about. And remember: if you get stuck with anything, be sure to click the Help Links on each page, or check out the Support section of the control panel.
1. Dummy Products - View a Help Video
If you have just setup your webstore, it will still contain a few Dummy Products and Categories, just to give you an idea of how your webstore might look. Use the Manage > Products and Manage > Categories sections to delete these in preparation for adding your own products.
2. Setup Categories - View a Help Video
Before adding any products, have a think about how you will present them to your customers, and create some categories accordingly. For example, if you were selling electronics, you might want to use the Manage > Categories section to create a few different categories, perhaps something like "Televisions", "Audio Equipment" and "DVD Players".
3. Add Products - View a Help Video
Once your categories are setup, you have a place to put your products. Use the Manage > Products section of the control panel to add whatever products you want. If you need a hand with anything, be sure to click the View Help link at the top-left of the Product List. You may also want to prepare and upload your product images first - you can do this via the Manage > Images section, or while adding a new product in the Manage > Products section.
4. Add Ecommerce Options - View a Help Video
Use the Ecommerce > Checkouts section of the control panel to select which payment methods, such as PayPal or Google Checkout, you would like to offer to your customers.
5. Customise Your Design - View a Help Video
Use the Design section of the control panel to customise the style of your store, change your logo and tag line text, select your font and more.
6. Edit Your Welcome Message - View a Help Video
Use the Manage > Pages section of the control panel to alter the Welcome Message on your Home page. Just click the "Edit" link next to your Home page and enter whatever information you want.
7. Create Your Postage Options - View a Help Video
Check out the Manage > Postage section of the control panel. You can use this section to create a set of rules which govern your shipping costs and ensure your customers are always charged the correct amount.
8. Setup Domain Name - View a Help Video
A domain name, such as www.shopname.com, gives your store a more professional image. See the Marketing > Domain Name section if you want to set one up.
9. Submit Your Store to Search Engines - View a Help Video
Search engines can be slow to update their listings, so it may take weeks or even months before your store begins to show up in their results pages. You can potentially speed up this process by submitting your Sitemap to Google. For more information, please see the Marketing > Google Tools > Webmaster Tools section of the control panel.
