An Introduction to Managing Your Categories

Use the Manage > Categories section of the control panel to setup your Categories and Sub-Categories. You can create, rearrange and delete categories, as well as add Category Images and Descriptions.

To select a category, simply click on its name in the category tree. If the category already contains a Category Description or Image, this will appear in a box to the right of the page.

The "Top (root)" text represents the top level of your category structure and is not a category itself. A dotted line leads from this to each of your Parent Categories. You can click the + symbol to the left of the "Top (root)" text to expand or collapse the whole category tree.

Each Parent Category can have any number of Sub-Categories within it. If a Parent Category contains Sub-Categories, you will see a + symbol to the left of the category name - clicking that will expand or collapse the view of its Sub-Categories.

Each Sub-Category can also have any number of Sub-Categories within it. If a Sub-Category contains deeper levels of Sub-Categories, you will see the + symbol to the left of the category name which acts in exactly the same way as it does for Parent Categories.

If a Category Image is not manually set, the system will use a random product image from within the category as the Category Image. Changes to a Category Image may not be instantly reflected on your store.
